**Kaspa is the fastest, open-source, decentralized and fully scalable Layer-1 in the world.**

\
The world’s first blockDAG – a digital ledger enabling parallel blocks and instant transaction confirmation – is built on a robust proof-of-work engine with rapid 1/10 second block intervals.

\
**Built by industry pioneers, led by the people.**

Kaspa solves the [trilemma](https://kaspa.org/about-kaspa/#trilemma) in the usage of digital assets: Security, Scalability, and Decentralization. Utilizing a revolutionary blockDAG as opposed to a blockchain, Kaspa allows the fastest, most scalable, and most secure transactions with absolutely no sacrifice to decentralization.

[Kaspa](https://wiki.kaspa.org/en/kaspa) is a proof-of-work cryptocurrency which implements the [PHANTOM GHOSTDAG](https://eprint.iacr.org/2018/104.pdf) protocol. Unlike traditional blockchains, GHOSTDAG does not orphan blocks created in parallel, rather allows them to coexist and orders them in consensus. Therefore, our blockchain is actually a block*DAG*; you can see GHOSTDAG in action in a real-time [blockDAG visualizer](https://kgi.kaspad.net/). This generalization of Nakamoto consensus allows for secure operation while maintaining very high block rates (currently 10 block per second, aiming for 100/sec) and minuscule confirmation times dominated by internet latency (cf. chapter 6 of [the paper](https://eprint.iacr.org/2018/104.pdf) for some initial benchmarks).

Kaspa is a community project, completely open source, no central governance, no business model. Think Bitcoin, Litecoin, Monero, Grin, Kaspa. The mainnet was openly launched without premining or any other preallocation of coins. Kaspa was initially created by [DAGlabs](https://wiki.kaspa.org/daglabs), and later DAGLab renounced ownership and transferred Kaspa to the public domain approximately six months before the mainnet launch.

Currently, core code development is undertaken by dozens of individuals from around the world, with many more contributing to the ecosystem.

More information on all aspects of the project can be found on the [Kaspa Wiki](https://wiki.kaspa.org)

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter:

```
GET https://ppkas.gitbook.io/ppkas/kaspa.md?ask=<question>
```

The question should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
